Activities
The Chamber has sponsored many wonderful events over the years:
- The Frost Bite Open Winter Golf Outing brings in approximately 350 people each year.
- The Memorial Weekend Classic Car Show has grown by leaps and bounds in the first nine years and today is a leading classic car show, bringing thousands to Downtown Harrison over the holiday weekend.
- Newly added in 2008 to Memorial Weekend was the Demolition Derby by Unique Motor Sports that packed the grandstand at the Fairgrounds.
- The Budd Lake Fishing Derby draws about 300 people.
- The 4th of July Demolition Derby and Fireworks has over 2,000 in attendance and the parade has an equal number of spectators.
- In 2008, the 2nd Annual Harrison Street Fair was held over two days with thousands of people in attendance. Over 300 children were treated to a free carnival with prizes and games for everyone. Teenagers enjoyed a Guitar Hero contest, and over 50 crafters sold their goods. Entertainment was supplied via local talent all on Saturday, while Saturday featured a concert by the Scottville Clown Band and a karaoke contest.
- Santa's arrival brings out around 400 people.
- The Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony has about 200 attendees.
- A Christmas decorating contest involves approximately 35-40 residents and businesses.
- Thousands of lookers travel through the Festival of Lights in City Park.
All Harrison area businesses benefit through the trickle-down effect. People come out for an event and stay at motels, shop at grocery stores and party stores, buy gasoline, and enjoy many other Harrison recreational facilities. When these people call the Chamber for information on businesses they receive information about Chamber members first.
